Candied Cranberries

Candied Cranberries

I love the tartness of cranberries. These candied cranberries are a little bit sweet and pop with flavor. These taste delicious fresh from the oven, at room temperature, or refrigerated. If you like cranberries, then you will love these!!

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups 7 UP or similar soda

1 cup orange juice

12 ounces fresh cranberries

1 cup powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Rinse the cranberries in water.
  2. Mix the soda and orange juice in a large bowl. Add the cranberries and soak for at least 24 hours.
  3. Drain the cranberries using a colander.
  4. Add the cranberries to a gallon storage bag and add sugar a half cup at a time.
  5. Close and shake the bag to coat the cranberries.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Spread out the cranberries in an even layer. (Sprinkle additional powdered sugar if you want the cranberries to be extra sweet.)
  8. Bake 5-10 minutes at 350. The original recipe I found recommended 200 degrees, but my cranberries did not soften or warm up until 5 minutes at 350.
  9. Let the cranberries cool and harden on the parchment paper.
  10. These taste great warm, at room temperature, or cooled if you transfer to an air tight container and refrigerate.
  11. Enjoy!
