Pizza Pot Pies

Pizza Pot Pies

Who doesn’t love cheesy gooey pizzas?  These are basically upside down pizzas with a cheesy layer and any toppings you would normally put on your pizza.  My children love these and get excited when they see this on our weekly menu.

Recipe adapted from Food Network

Ingredients-

1 package of thin pizza crust dough for every 4 pizza pot pies

1 package mozzarella slices (3 slices per pizza)

1 jar pizza sauce

Olive oil spray or to spread on crust

Garlic powder and powdered parmesan cheese to sprinkle over crust

Toppings of your choice: pepperoni, bacon, peppers, tomatoes, onion, spinach, mushrooms, etc…

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Spray 4 oven safe bowls with nonstick spray be sure to coat the inside and the rims. Place the bowls on a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Arrange 3 slices of mozzarella to line the bottom of the bowl.  I cut one slice in half and use the 2 whole slices.
  3. Place a few spoonfuls of pizza sauce and spread it over the cheese.
  4. Add toppings of your choice.
  5. Use a rolling pin to flatten and spread the refrigerated pizza crust.
  6. Use a pizza cutter to cut the crust into 4 squares.
  7. Place one square of dough on the top of each bowl and press down gently.
  8. Spray each crust with olive oil spray.  Sprinkle each crust with garlic powder and powdered parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake 15 minutes until crusts are golden brown.
  10. Use oven mitts to carefully flip each bowl over on a plate.  The crust and cheese should slide out if you sprayed with nonstick spray.  Rearrange the toppings to spread the cheese, sauce, and enjoy.
