Spicy Cocoa Rubbed Steak
Grilled steak tastes great on its own, but the flavor is enhanced with a good marinade or rub. This rub is a breeze to prepare and intensifies the flavor of the steak.
Recipe adapted from Food Network
Ingredients:
2 New York strip steaks
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon chipotle powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions:
- Drizzle olive oil on the steaks and spread it to coat both steaks.
- Mix all other ingredients in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the spice blend over both sides of the steak and rub in gently. Let sit.
- I grilled the steaks on high using my ninja grill cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Let steaks rest 5 minutes before slicing.
- I served this with lemon pepper fries, and jicama apple slaw. See recipes in Sides/Salads.
